SMALL BRUSHFIRES UNDER CONTROL

Firefighters yesterday quickly put out small brushfires off Kaukonahua Road near Wahiawa and off Farrington Highway near Makua Cave.

Police closed Kaukonahua Road between Thomson Corner and Wilikina Drive from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. because of two separate fires, one near Poamoho Estates and the other close to the "S-turn" a half-mile south of Poamoho Estates, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Kenison Tejada.

The fire near Poamoho was extinguished 30 minutes after firefighters responded to the 12:15 p.m. alarm, Tejada said. The second fire was reported under control a short time later, according to Tejada. Police reopened Kaukonahua Road at 2:22 p.m.

MAN ACCUSED OF TERRORISTIC THREAT

Police arrested a 38-year-old Honolulu man after he allegedly used a shotgun to threaten a neighbor who was having a party early yesterday.

About 2:05 a.m. yesterday a 27-year-old man was at a party in his apartment building when the 38-year-old, who lives in the same building, started yelling at the partygoers to keep the noise down.

Police said the man went back to his apartment, got his shotgun, and went back to the party, where he pointed it at the 27-year-old and at the apartment's owner and threatened them.

The man then gave his shotgun to a friend, who drove off.

Police responded to the scene and arrested the 38-year-old man on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.
