Blender's list, ranking of greatest new-wave songs quite bewildering

Depeche Mode\'s "Just Can\'t Get Enough" is No. 10 on Blender magazine\'s list of top new-wave singles.

"Here's the thing/ We started off friends/ It was cool, but it was all pretend/ Yeah, yeah/ Since u been gone." Man, we love that Kelly Clarkson song! Is it anywhere on Blender magazine's list of the 40 Greatest New Wave Singles ... Ever? Uh, no. But Gary Numan is. In fact, his synth-driven ode to lovin' your Kia just a bit too much, "Cars," is No. 1. The rest of the list has its spot-on hits: Human League's "Don't You Want Me" (No. 4), Depeche Mode's "Just Can't Get Enough" (No. 10). And misses. Madonna's "Burning Up" (No. 25) ranked higher than New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle" (No. 27)? We think not. Find the rest of the list in the July issue or at www.blender.com.

WEAR DATING EMOTIONS ON YOUR SLEEVE, OR ARM

The answer to every single girl's dating dramas may lie in one simple accessory: the patch.

"Stuck on You: Do-It-Yourself Dating Patches for the Single Girl" (Chamberlain Bros., $14.95) by Katie Gates and Tim Knight reveals their simple, 4-step process to quit dating and get on with your life. Each patch delivers a new level of dating emotions from Anticipation (pink heart patch) to Re-entry (sparkly blue star patch), perfect for the recently-dissed or the can't-seem-to-get-it-right.

FINAL WORD

"Everyone says you should get a photo taken of yourself while you're pregnant. I've got a film. It'll be nice for my daughter, too, to look at one day. She was in it."
