Sgt. Deyson Cariaga\'s service today

Visitation for Sgt. Deyson Ken Cariaga, the first Hawai'i National Guard soldier killed in Iraq, will be at 5 p.m. today at Mission Memorial Auditorium (560 S. King St., diamondhead of Honolulu Hale). A service will follow at 6 p.m., and there will be a closed-circuit broadcast for those outside. Parking will be available after 5 p.m. at Ho-nolulu Municipal parking lot and after 6 p.m. at 'Iolani Palace. Family asks that flowers be omitted. Civilian dress is aloha wear; military members are asked to wear Class A or its equivalent. Burial will take place 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.

Cariaga died July 8 while serving with the 229th Military Intelligence Company, 29th Brigade Combat Team. He was 20.

Cariaga was born in Honolulu and was a Honolulu Community College student.

He is survived by mother and stepfather, Theresa and Jerry Inouye; brother, Lance; grandparents, Roland and Haruko Akatsuka, and Margaret Boydston; and his father, Rodney.
