Golfer gets nice surprise on anniversary of first ace

KAHUKU GOLF COURSE

HOLE NO. 4, 110 YARDS, 10-IRON

On Wednesday (June 22), my golfing buddy, Tim Wilson, beat me to the pro shop at Kahuku Golf Course and paid my green fees. When I asked why, he said that I shouldn't have to pay on my anniversary.

It took a moment to sink in, but he was referring to the anniversary of my first hole-in-one. On June 22, 2001, I had a hole-in-one on the first hole at Kahuku; I had forgotten that it was just four years ago.

Naturally, I thanked him for remembering, and we both said that it was time to get another.

And I did!

On hole No. 4, I hit a 10-iron. The ball landed just in front of the hole, took two bounces and went in. Tim — as well as several other longtime golfing friends — saw that one as well as the one in 2001. It was quite a treat to get a second hole-in-one, and especially nice to get it four years to the day after the first.
