Falaniko Vitale and Robbie Lawler are the main event fighters for tonight's Super Brawl: Icon, but a lot of the talk has been about another bout.

And the emphasis is on talk.

Jason Miller of Las Vegas will take on Waipahu's Mark Moreno in the semi-main event of tonight's mixed martial arts card at the Blaisdell Center Arena. Miller's Super Brawl world welterweight championship will be on the line.

Miller is nicknamed "Mayhem," and he has been creating much of it lately in his pre-fight interviews.

"I don't like (Moreno)," Miller said. "He's a bad person. He hit me in the back of the head and you can't go around doing that. It's dishonorable."

Miller was referring to an incident last October when he defeated Hawai'i's Ronald Jhun. A melee ensued in the ring after the bout, and Miller said Moreno punched him in the back of the head.

"There are about 20 cameras who have him on tape doing it," Miller said. "So ever since I found out it was him, I wanted to take him on the right way — in the ring, face to face."

Moreno, who has generally kept quiet this week, said he was attempting to break up the melee.

"He's just talking a lot of trash, but I don't care," Moreno said of Miller. "One of his game plans is get his opponents all upset so you can't think in the ring, so I'm just going to keep my cool."

Miller, who is originally from Atlanta but now trains in Las Vegas, is 11-4. He is 4-0 in Hawai'i, including a victory over Egan Inoue in 2003.

Moreno, a former boxer, is 6-5-2.

"He's a good fighter and if he didn't talk so much, I wouldn't have a problem with him," Moreno said of Miller. "I'm expecting it to be a tough fight."

In any case, Miller will have 24 hours to regain his strength after barely making the 175-pound weight limit yesterday. Miller said he lost 20 pounds since Tuesday, and did not drink any water Wednesday or yesterday.

"I miscalculated how heavy I was, and I guess the island cuisine got to me the first couple days I was here," he said. "It's not very healthy to lose this much weight this fast and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. But now the fun begins."

Moreno weighed 172 pounds at yesterday's officials weigh-in.

"I had to cut weight for this fight, too, so I don't know if he's not taking this serious or what," Moreno said.

Miller is coming off a loss by decision to Georges St. Pierre in the prestigious Ultimate Fighting Championship in April.

"The UFC is a really big deal and I respect it," said Miller, 24. "But I just take fights as they come and right now, this is a big deal for me."

Moreno is coming off a submission loss to Chris Brennan at the Extreme Wars X-1 at the Blaisdell earlier this month.

"I didn't get hurt at all in that fight, so I just want to put it behind me and go after (Miller)," said Moreno, 25. "I want to prove to Hawai'i what I can really do."

Vitale and Lawler both made the 185-pound weight limit for their bout. Vitale (20-3) will be defending his Super Brawl world middleweight championship for the first time. He knocked out Japan's Masanori Suda for the title in April.

Lawler (8-3), who is from Iowa, is a veteran of the UFC, and is fighting in Hawai'i for the first time.

In an undercard bout, Ed Kelii Newalu will take on Mark Oshiro for the Hawai'i state flyweight championship.
