  • Maui resident GARY E. LIEBL, former first vice chairman of Chaminade University Board of Regents, has been named chairman of the board. He is the retired board chairman of QLogic Corp. He replaces John Brogan, retired president of Starwood Hotels and Resorts-Hawai'i, regent since 2001 who completed his maximum two terms as chairman in June. Brogan will continue as regent and chairman of Chaminade's capital campaign. On the academic front, Liebl has served on a number of educational boards, including Loyola Marymount University, the advisory board of the Marianist Province of the Pacific, and is past chairman of the board of governors at Chapman University.

  • MICHAEL A. ROSENBERG has been re-elected a national vice president of the Muscular Dystrophy Association at the organization's recent annual meeting in Los Angeles. MDA vice presidents provide counsel in their areas of expertise to support MDA lifesaving programs and activities aimed at defeating over 40 neuromuscular diseases. Rosenberg is president and general manager of KITV-TV, which for the 11th year will be one of 190 MDA "Love Network" stations that broadcast the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon. MDA also maintains 240 clinics nationwide, one of which is at Castle Medical Center in Kailua.

  • KRIS TANAHARA, former account supervisor of Stryker Weiner and Yokota Public Relations' corporate and public affairs division, has been promoted to division vice president. As such, she will manage the division, and clients including Home Depot, AIG Hawai'i Insurance Co, Island Air, the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art and The Queen's Health Systems. Tanahara is a veteran of print and broadcast journalism in Hawai'i, Fiji and Japan, and is a former Honolulu Advertiser reporter. Also promoted were MOLLY SHEEHAN, account executive in the Travel Division, to senior account executive, servicing clients such as Starwood Hotels & Resorts-Hawai'i, Starwood Vacation Ownership and The Honolulu Triathlon. tracy ching, former account coordinator, was promoted to assistant account executive in the Corporate and Public Affairs Division.

  • The company that operates the food and beverage concessions at Aloha Stadium has named JEFFREY BARENG, former operations manager of the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, general manager of its swap meet, responsible for total management of operations, including vendor relations, strategic planning and special events. He is an 11-year veteran of sales management, accounting and operations. Centerplate, formerly known as Volume Services America, provides food and beverage concessions at eight Hawai'i locations, including Ala Moana Park; Blaisdell Concert Hall, exhibition hall and arena; Hanauma Bay; Hilo and Keahole, Kona international airports; Paradise Cove and Waikiki Shell.

  • Russell Lau, vice chairman and chief executive officer of Finance Factors, has been elected to serve as a director of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle. The 29-year banking industry veteran, will represent Hawai'i, Guam and American Samoa on the board of one of the nation's largest sources of private funding for affordable housing. Lau directed a major restructuring effort for Finance Factors. His term as director for the Seattle Bank runs through Dec. 31, 2006.

    BROOKFIELD HOMES HAWAI'I, independent and locally operated subsidiary of Brookfield Homes Corp., has named Big Island resident CHRISTINE CROWDER its chief financial officer. Previously, she was president of Crowder Accounting Services Inc., chief financial officer at Pacific Rim Import Corp., Seattle, and has worked for First Interstate Bank/Wells Fargo Bank and Deloitte & Touche. Brookfield Hawai'i's first development, Coconut Plantation at Ko 'Olina, garnered the National Association of Home Builder's "Best Attached Community of the Year" in 2002; is currently building Nihilani on Kaua'i, with future construction planned at Mauna Lani Resort (in partnership with Alexander & Baldwin) on the Big Island, and in Po'ipu, Kaua'i. The parent company also has operations in Los Angeles/Orange County, San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, Virginia and Maryland.
