Digital cable subscribers who are also K-drama fans on O'ahu and the Neighbor Islands will get a clearer TV picture of the Korean dramas, variety shows, comedies, mini-series and children's program, thanks to the launch of digital KBFD on channel 82.
A partnership between KBFD and Oceanic Time Warner cable will provide digital transmission of the popular Korean-language programs, which are subtitled in English. KBFD reports growing viewership of K-drama and other shows, including local and national news on the independent station.
"KBFD is a wonderful addition to our high-quality lineup of local programming," said Oceanic president Nate Smith. "It also meets the growing needs of our subscribers, especially now as this type of programming continues to gain popularity among mainstream audiences."
Oceanic delivers entertainment and information services through a fiber optic/coax network to more than 388,000 households, schools and businesses on O'ahu, Maui, Kaua'i, Moloka'i, Lana'i and the Big Island. The company has provided cable service for Hawai'i residents since 1969.
