Clear Channel Radio Hawai'i has ventured into podcasting, enabling radio listeners to download programming to listen to later.

Free one-hour downloads of KHVH's Rick Hamada and Mike Buck shows, in addition to Clear Channel's weekly public affairs program, "Community Matters," are part of the offerings.

"It's a service that Clear Channel has been offering listeners in various markets on the Mainland such as New York City and Los Angeles," said Paul Wilson, programming director for Clear Channel here. "What's different here is that we are actually providing extended content that has been broadcast on the radio." In other markets, short segments or bonus features that have not been broadcast are downloadable.

"I like to think of it as TiVo for radio," said Wilson, referring to the TV recording format that allows viewers to watch shows at their convenience.
