Pop culture, with a few major gaps
What's not on Rhino's justreleased seven-CD, 130-song boxed set "Whatever: The '90s Pop & Culture Box" ($105.98)? In order of importance: Nirvana, U2, Radiohead, Notorious B.I.G., Pearl Jam, 2Pac and other big acts who rarely license their music for such compilations. Oh well, let's just dig on the set's funky packaging (real coffee beans wrapped in a thermal sleeve) and groove to the monster-in-a-box anyway. Faves like Sneaker Pimps' "6 Underground," Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity" and Len's "Steal My Sunshine" are in the mix, along with an 84-page book of photos, essays and liner notes.

LUCKY LOVES HULA
The Hula Supply Center has had a loyal customer base among Island dancers for 60 years. But the Honolulu store may win over new fans, thanks to a mention in this month's issue of Lucky, a national shopping magazine for women.
Among the Lucky favorites: Hawaiian-print skirts, or pa'u, ($39 to $65) and kukui nut lei ($6), for which "there is a hot demand," said store co-owner Syl Kop. For details, see hulasupply center.com or call 941-5379.
FINAL WORD
