'Wayne's World' being served at Hoku's for only one week

Kahala Mandarin Oriental hotel executive chef Wayne Hirabayashi, right, and executive sous chef Joshua Nudd have concocted a special-seasoning dinner being served at Hoku's tomorrow through Aug. 3. "Wayne's World: Delights of Hawai'i" combines Island-grown items with international cooking techniques. Special menu items are individually priced and range from Kula tomatoes with Big Island goat cheese ($13) to kalbi-style Kobe beef short ribs ($44).


MCDONALD'S, BURGER KING LAUNCH NEW MENU ITEMS

The National Chicken Council says more people are buying chicken entrees at fast-food restaurants. Obviously, those restaurant companies have noticed:

  • McDonald's will introduce three new chicken sandwiches, right, on Tuesday — The Classic, ranch BLT and club sandwiches, available with either grilled or crispy chicken.

  • Burger King restaurants began serving Chicken Fries — french-fry-shaped chicken pieces — on Monday.
