A Waipahu woman appeared in District Court yesterday, accused of using a stolen credit card to purchase $624 worth of electronic games and equipment from a Pearlridge store.

Juanita Davis, 24, who is seven months pregnant, was held in lieu of $11,000 bail. She was charged Monday with fraudulent use of a credit card, forgery, theft, identity theft and auto theft. A 1:30 p.m. preliminary hearing is scheduled tomorrow at District Court.

The stolen credit card belongs to Denise Kaehu, whose wallet was stolen from her purse while she was shopping Sunday at Waikele Center. Within two hours of the wallet being reported stolen at 1 p.m., thieves had run up nearly $3,000 in charges.

Davis was arrested at 3:20 p.m. at the Toys "R" Us store at 98-1101 Moanalua Road. It was the third time in two hours that Kaehu's credit card had been used there. One of two men police are seeking for questioning in the case allegedly used Kaehu's card to buy $1,377 worth of portable PlayStations and PlayStation games.

Davis used the card the third time at Toys "R" Us to purchase two PlayStations, priced at $249.99 apiece, and two games at $49.99 each, police said. Davis was then asked for identification by Toys "R" Us front-end manager Lisa Hraba.

According to a police report filed yesterday at District Court, when Davis told Hraba she did not have ID, Hraba called store manager James O'Brian, who had helped Kaehu fill out a report on the previous charges and was waiting with her for police to arrive.

After the transaction was voided, Davis took the credit card and was arrested while leaving the store.

A witness pointed out the 2001 tan pickup truck in the parking lot Davis was seen driving. Police discovered the truck's license plate was registered to another vehicle and that its vehicle identification number matched that of a silver 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup reported stolen May 2 in 'Ewa Beach.

A man who was seen with Davis in the truck fled the scene.

Police Detective Gary Lahens said two of the three stolen cards have been recovered. The identities of the two men wanted for questioning are known, he said.

The forgery charge against Davis is for allegedly signing for the purchases, while the auto theft charge goes with the stolen truck, Lahens said.
