A memorial service for Staff Sgt. Frank F. Tiai, who was killed July 17 in Iraq, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kalihi Union Church.

Tiai, 46, of American Samoa, was assigned to Company C, 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry. He died when a roadside bomb exploded near his patrol vehicle.

About 300 members of Company C are from American Samoa. Tiai was the first reservist and fifth soldier from American Samoa to be killed in Iraq.

He is survived by his wife, Talosaga; a son, Faga; a daughter, Foaga; and a sister, Tina Netane.
