Sasada will take over at Po'ipu Bay

Former Kapalua head pro Craig Sasada will become Director of Golf at Po'ipu Bay Golf Course on Monday. The announcement was made by Kawailoa Development, owner of the Grand Hyatt Kaua'i and Po'ipu Bay Golf Course.

Sasada has more than 20 years of experience in the golf industry and is a Class A1 member of the PGA of America. He is a graduate of San Diego Golf Academy and PGA Business Schools I, II and III.

Over the past two decades, Sasada has worked as an assistant pro at Royal Ka'anapali and Waiehu, head pro at Sandalwood and his most recent position at Kapalua's Plantation Course. He has experience as a teaching professional, in supervision of guest service activities, development of Junior Golf programs and coordination of major golf events.

Po'ipu Bay has been the site of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf since 1994. The 2005 Slam will be Nov. 22 and 23.


TOURNEY TO BENEFIT SPECIAL OLYMPICS

The San Diego Golf Academy of Hawai'i is presenting the inaugural Swing for the Gold tournament to benefit Special Olympics Hawai'i.

Academy instructors and students give clinics to Special Olympics athletes.

Swing for the Gold will be Aug. 12 at Ko'olau Golf Club. It includes a putting contest in the academy's state-of-the-art indoor learning center, live auction and post-round buffet.

Format is three-person modified scramble and entry fee is $150 per player. For more information, call 943-8808, ext. 24
