Here's a look at some action in Congress last week.


KEY HOUSE VOTES


1. FREE TRADE

The House voted 217-215 for the Central American Free Trade Agreement, which would reduce tariffs on U.S.-made goods to six countries.

2. ENERGY BILL

The House voted 275-156 for an energy bill that includes billions of dollars in tax breaks and subsidies for energy companies but does not require more fuel-efficient cars.

3. MALPRACTICE CAP

The House voted 230-194 to limit medical malpractice damages that can be awarded for pain and suffering to $250,000. Punitive damages would also be capped at $250,000.
