POLICE BEAT
Robbery suspect arrested

Advertiser Staff

Police have arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with a robbery near Ala Moana Center last night.

A 38-year-old man told investigators he was sitting at a bus stop near the center about 10 p.m. when the robber approached him, demanded money and pulled a knife.

The victim said he handed some money to the man who then ran away.

Police officers found the suspect nearby but did not recover the knife. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery after the victim identified him.

Domestic violence ends in arrest

A 21-year-old Wai'anae man was arrested for suspicion of multiple felony offenses after he allegedly broke into his former girlfriend's home last night and demanded to see his infant son.

Police said the man first forced his way into the girlfriend's home about 9 p.m., saying he wanted to see the baby. A struggle ensued and police were called, but the intruder left before they arrived.

The former boyfriend, who is the subject of a restraining order obtained by the 17-year-old woman, returned after police left the home and broke a window to enter the home a second time. He then pulled a knife and threatened to harm his former girlfriend unless she agreed to let him see their son, police said.

The suspect lowered the knife after the former girlfriend said she would comply with his demands and led him outside. Once outside, however, the former boyfriend began to pull the woman's hair and struggled with her as she tried to run away.

Police, who had been called to the scene a second time, found the man hiding in his girlfriend's home about 1:20 a.m. today and arrested him on suspicion of burglary, terroristic threatening, assault, abuse of a family or household member and violating a court-issued restraining order.

The former girlfriend received cuts and scratches on her arms and legs and a small puncture wound to her face, police said.

Sexual assault reported

A 58-year-old Saint Louis Heights man was arrested yesterday afternoon in connection with a sex assault case involving a 30-year-old man.

The younger man told police the older man, who is an acquaintance, sexually assaulted him about 5 a.m. on May 21.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of three counts of second-degree sexual assault.
