Kapolei students win water prize

Kapolei High School students April Die and Aimi La Tore have won the Hawai'i Stockholm Junior Water Prize for their project on "The Viability of Processing Cruise Ship Waste at a Land-based Wastewater Facility."

The students and teacher Naida Gamurot will go to the national competition in Oregon on June 16 to compete for $2,500 and the opportunity to represent the United States at the international competition in Stockholm, Sweden. Their airfare is paid for by the Hawai'i Water Environment Organization, which also will give the girls $125 each.



Alliant offering computer money

Alliant Credit Union is offering $5,000 in gift certificates for computers to nine members of its National Education Program.

The program is open to Alliant members ages 5 to 17.

All applications and requirements must be submitted by Aug. 31.
