KFVE has been awarded the rights to televise University of Hawai'i sports for the next three years, according to two people familiar with the situation.

KFVE will also have an option to extend the contract for an additional three years.

UH athletic department officials said an official announcement on the television contract will be made this afternoon.

But sources said KFVE, which has held the rights for 22 years, has won the bid. Oceanic Cable was the only other bidder.

KFVE will pay $1.75 million annually in rights fees.

KFVE, the sister station of KHNL, is owned by Raycom, a telecommunication company based in Alabama.
