Four Hawai'i gymnasts earned All-American status at the USA Junior Olympic National Gymnastic Championships last month.

Naomi DeLara, Megan Harada, Randi Lau and Tracie Tamashiro competed at Level 10, the highest level of Junior Olympic gymnastics, and earned All-American status by virtue of finishing in the top 10 of either the individual or all-around events.

DeLara, 15, of Maui High, placed fifth in the all-around (37.525) and eighth in the balance beam (9.375) in the Junior D division. She is the first alternate for the National Junior Olympic Team. DeLara is from Maui Gymnastics Center.

Harada, 13, of Punahou, placed seventh in the all-around (37.325), eighth in the vault (9.55) and 10th in the uneven bars (9.35) in the Junior B division.

Lau, 11, placed eighth in the vault (9.425) and tied for ninth in the uneven bars (9.30) in the Junior A division.

Tamashiro, 15, of Kalani, placed eighth in the vault (9.550).

Harada, Lau and Tamashiro all compete for Hawaiian Island Twisters Gymnastics.

Emiko Ono, 14, of Roosevelt, competed in the Level 9 Western National Championship. She placed ninth in the balance beam (9.35) in the Junior D division. She is also from the Hawaiian Island Twisters.

Maui's Nagasako takes fourth at Cincinnati

Maui's Thumper Nagasako took fourth in the in-line vert competition in Cincinnati last week in the first stop of the Mobile Skatepark Series.

The Yasutoko brothers of Japan — Eito and Takeshi — took the top places and American Marc Englehart was third.

The Mobile Skatepark Series tours the United States, featuring contests and demonstrations that highlight skateboard vert and street, bike vert and street and in-line vert and best trick.
