Trenson Himalaya

Two of the biggest victories in Baldwin High School's recent football and basketball history happened the past two years and have one thing in common: Trenson Himalaya was a key part of both.

As a two-way lineman in football, Himalaya helped the Bears win the Maui Interscholastic League championship in 2003 and was part of Baldwin's big upset of O'ahu Interscholastic Association runner-up Kailua in the state quarterfinals.

In basketball, Himalaya was the MIL Player of the Year but the Bears entered the state tournament looking for respect. They got it, upsetting Interscholastic League of Honolulu runner-up Punahou in the quarterfinals and coming within a basket of reaching the state title game for the first time.

Grade-point average: 3.0

Himalaya capped the year by being named to the Honolulu Advertiser's All-State first team in basketball, a rarity for Baldwin.

Off the field, Himalaya carried a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and was praised by coaches for his maturity and leadership. He plans to play football at Dixie State College in St. George, Utah.
