Tonight's Must-See

"The Cut," 7 p.m., CBS. Tommy Hilfiger is the latest of the moguls to get his own big-boss show. He follows Donald Trump, Mark Cuban and Richard Branson in trying to create his own mini me. Martha Stewart is next. Hilfiger, the fashion designer, wants someone with style sense and business smarts. That produces an interesting batch of competitors who are vying for a $250,000 annual salary and a chance to design a line under Hilfiger's logo. The 16 contestants, ranging from artists to a magazine editor, are competing in New York. The first challenge is fascinating. On Times Square, each team gets a massive billboard to fill in two days. They come up with opposite approaches, at least one of which you'll like. This could be fun.

"MTV Movie Awards," 8:30 p.m., MTV. Awards shows should be fun and irreverent, MTV has always figured. That tends to make this an annual pleasure. There's music, of course, including Eminem, Mariah Carey and Nine Inch Nails. There's also humor. Jimmy Fallon hosts and this time (with "Fever Pitch"), he actually has been in a good movie.

Of Note

"NBA Finals," 3 p.m., ABC. The NBA playoffs are into their best-of-seven championship series now. It's sort of like the World Series, except it takes forever to get there.

"Our Fathers," 6 p.m., Showtime. If you missed this superb movie last month, catch it now. Ted Danson and Brian Dennehy are particularly good in this look at the church's attempt to stonewall accusations that Boston-area priests molested boys.

"The O.C.," 7 and 8 p.m., Fox. In the first rerun, Marissa knows of the affair between her father and her mother, who had divorced him and married someone else. In the second, Seth's parents have an anniversary party amid chaos.

"Will & Grace," 7:30 p.m., NBC. Sharon Stone plays the therapist of both Will and Grace. Soon, both are competing for her attention.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8:30 p.m., CBS. Melinda Clarke, who plays Marissa's naughty mom on "The O.C.," guests in this expanded rerun. It involves two murders, both linked to a dominatrix.

"ER," 9 p.m., NBC. This rerun reminds us anew that smoking can be dangerous. Abby is catching some puffs outside when she's abducted by crooks who need some medical help.
