Rainbows lead after first day

The University of Hawai'i took a big step toward defending its title of the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association Coed Dinghy Championships yesterday at Lake Travis in Austin, Texas.

The Rainbows lead the 18-team field after the first 12 races with 66 points. Hobart/William Smith, which won the Team Race Championships, is second with 72 points.

UH All-Americans Bryan Lake and Jennifer Warnock scored 25 points to lead A division while Scott DeCurtis and Becky Mabardy tied for fourth in B division with 41 points. Shandy Buckley also competed for the Rainbows.

Racing continues today.
