Key Senate votes

1. Judge Janice Rogers Brown

The Senate voted 56-43 to confirm Judge Janice Rogers Brown to sit on the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, ending a two-year battle over her nomination.

2. Judge William Pryor

The Senate voted 53-45 to approve former Alabama Attorney General William Pryor for a seat on the Atlanta-based 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals after two years of acrimonious debate.

What's ahead

The House is expected to continue its push to wrap up spending legislation with votes on a $408.9 billion defense bill and a $57.5 billion measure to fund the departments of Commerce, Justice and State. The Senate is expected to begin the week with a vote on appeals court nominee Thomas Griffith, then move to debate on a comprehensive energy bill.
