• Chicago native, real estate legend and self-made billionaire Samuel Zell will be the next speaker in a University of Hawai'i series featuring leading thinkers in the business world. Zell is chairman of Equity Group Investments, an entrepreneurial real estate investment firm. The speech, part of the Kipapa i ke Ala (Paving the Way) lecture series by the College of Business Administration, is scheduled 6-7:30 p.m. June 23 in the UH-Manoa School of Architecture auditorium. • Anne Deschene, president and chief executive of the Better Business Bureau of Hawai'i, will offer a free identity theft workshop, "The Fastest Growing Crime in America, Scams Targeting the Elderly, and Credit Card Responsibility and Fraud", 6-7 p.m. June 21 at Windward Community College, Office of Continuing Education, Hale 'Akoakoa, room 105. TOMORROW

• "EMPLOYMENT LAW 2005 FOR TECH COMPANIES" is the theme of the next ThinkTech Law Series, sponsored by ThinkTechHawaii and Pacific New Media, in conjunction with the University of Hawai'i, William Richardson School of Law. The series of three discussions will cover legal risks and advice critical to all tech companies, as well as a chance to talk with employment lawyers on employment law for tech companies. Instructor is Richard Rand, of Torkildson, Katz, Fonseca, Moore and Hetherington. The sessions are 5:15-7:15 p.m. tomorrow, July 12 and Aug. 9, in the UH Pacific New Media downtown facilities, Pioneer Plaza, lower level. Next week's first session will cover hiring practices.
