Tonight on KHNL News 8
KHNL News 8's Lyle Galdeira and Russell Yamanoha take you to Sandy's Café in Mililani. It's this week's "Cheap Eats," and you can catch it tonight on KHNL News 8 at 5 and 10. |
"The Inside," 8 p.m., Fox. After last week's terrific opener, we had big hopes for this series. Now we're hesitant. "Inside" seems obsessed with the confinement and torture of women. This is the second straight week of it, much rougher than the first. A former kidnap victim (Rachel Nichols) is an FBI novice. Her new boss (Peter Coyote) is brilliant, enigmatic and manipulative. All of this is superbly written and acted. However, tonight's episode, centering on bondage and murder, goes way too far.
"30 Days" debut, 7 and 8 p.m., FX. Each hour of this documentary series puts people in unfamiliar circumstances. That starts with the show's producer Morgan Spurlock ("Supersize Me") and his fiancee, Alexandra Jamieson, taking minimum-wage jobs. It all seems a little too easy, because they have two jobs, not one, in a city (Columbus, Ohio) that has good services for the low-income. Still, Spurlock and Jamieson come across as interesting people. They fight, fret, laugh and persevere despite some hurdles.
Of Note
"Jerry Maguire" (1996), 6 and 9 p.m., TNT. Skillfully written and directed by Cameron Crowe, this entertaining drama-comedy has Tom Cruise as a sports agent with a conscience. The supporting cast is great, especially Renée Zellweger, Jonathan Lipnicki and Cuba Gooding Jr.
"Psychic Detectives," 7 p.m., NBC. This show, temporarily transplanted from Court TV, shows real-life cases in which stumped police have turned to a psychic. One involves a paratrooper who vanished without a clue; another involves a predator who struck six times in five years.
"CSI: NY," 9 p.m., CBS. A man has been electrocuted on the train tracks.
"Lost," 9 p.m., ABC. Here's another chance to see the episode that began to view Kate's deceptively troubled past.
"American Masters: Julia! America's Favorite Chef," 10 p.m., PBS. Here's a portrait of TV chef Julia Child. Some stations aired it last year after her death in August, at 91.
