Maui chef among headliners at Kapalua festival

Beverly Gannon, chef-owner of Hali'imaile General Store, Joe's in Wailea and Celebrations Catering, will be among headliners of the 24th Annual Kapalua Wine & Food Festival from July 8 to 10, along with Chicago's

J. Joho of Everest, Brasserie Jo and Eiffel Tower and San Francisco's Michael Mina of Charles Nob Hill, Aqua at The Bellagio and Pisces. Each chef will be featured in a mid-day cooking class with sampling.

The theme for the festival is "A Journey to the World" and wine host again is master sommelier Fred Dame, who coordinates wine tastings and seminars for the event. Others on hand will be Kent Torrey of The Cheese Shop in Carmel, Calif., and Brian Julyan, chief executive of the Court of Master Sommeliers, as well as seven other members of the court. Cooking — the meatless way
