Academic honors for 31 UH athletes

Thirty-one University of Hawai'i student-athletes yesterday were honored for academic accomplishments.

Eighteen UH players were named to the Academic All-Western Athletic Conference team, which requires a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and participation in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.

Thirteen other UH players were named to the WAC's All-Academic team for freshmen and transfers.

Spring sports

Baseball—Gregory Kish (3.47, general business), Richard Olsen (3.43, communications).

Women's golf—Dale Gammie (3.96, general business), Sara Odelius (3.48, pre-business), Megan Stoddart (3.41, general arts and sciences).

Softball—Noelle Izumi (3.52, family resources).

Men's tennis—Bryon Weinberg (3.56, English).

Women's tennis—Kana Aikawa (3.57, Japanese), Justin Bouter (3.66, journalism), Kimberly Curtis (3.90, communications), Lauren Fitzgerald (3.58, psychology), Paige Mainor (3.30, journalism).

Outdoor track and field—Dana Buchanan (3.36, general arts and sciences), Sharlene Carillo (3.66, zoology), Alexis Fredrick (3.28, political science), Patricia Gauthier (3.92, pre-business), Ashley Monfort (3.39, journalism), Jessica Rohr (3.38, general arts and sciences).

Freshmen and transfers

Cross country—Sabrina Reeve (3.82, pre-kinesiology).

Football—Landon Kafentzis (3.45, history), Ryan Keomaka (3.21, sociology).

Soccer—Jessica Domingo (3.78, general arts and science).

Women's swimming and diving—Carly Mitchell (3.69, mathematics), Joy Symons (3.53, biology), Rui Wang (3.55, pre-business) .
