Hawai'i's ABA team announces nickname

Advertiser Staff

The team name of Hawai'i's American Basketball Association franchise was officially announced as the "Mega Force" yesterday.

In addition, the team's first open tryouts will be July 18 and 19, according to information on the ABA's Web site.

"You'd be surprised at the tremendous talent we have here," said team owner Orrys Williams. "Hopefully we can get them to come to the tryout camps, show their skills and become part of the Mega Force."

ABA chairman Joe Newman said there will be 18 home games played in Hawai'i once its season begins in November; the team's home venue, coaches and travel airline have yet to be announced.

For more information on the tryout, contact Williams at 294-4999 or e-mail to advmktgmstrs@yahoo.com.
