ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Stress can be your friend

Advertiser Staff

Are you about to suffer a nervous breakdown from all the insanity in your life?

Be thankful for all that stress, insists Loretta LaRoche, author of "Life is Short — Wear Your Party Pants."

She continues: "Stress isn't something to try to disguise or eradicate. Stress is a signal. When you recognize it, and work with it instead of against it, you can learn a lot about what you need to do to be happier and healthier. Stress is actually a blessing that can help you realize when you need to make changes in your life."

Here's the scoops

Here's a chance to do your part to help the Ala Wai Canal.

Volunteer "Ala Wai Scoopers" are needed to work from docks, using scoopers and nets to gather up floating debris. Meet at 8 a.m. Saturday at the harbormaster's office.

Wear sturdy shoes with gripping soles and bring a hat, thick rubber gloves, sunscreen and water.

For details, call 277-2549.

Final word

"Keeping the home trim is like keeping the body toned. We get the best results cutting excess at the source, staging small but frequent workouts into big bloated piles, and knowing what, why and how to let go."
