Stolen truck found with baby inside

Advertiser Staff

Police are looking for a heavyset, Caucasian man who allegedly stole a pickup truck from a 7-Eleven with a 4-month-old baby in the backseat.

The stolen truck and baby were located by a delivery driver who heard a radio report about the incident at the First Assembly of God Church on Moanalua Road shortly before 3:30 p.m. Police said the delivery driver saw the truck, called police and removed the baby before patrol officers arrived.

The child was taken to the Pali Momi Medical Center for an evaluation, police said. The suspect was not at the scene and police are continuing to search for him.

Police described the suspect as being about 5 foot 10 with black hair and wearing a long-sleeved black T-shirt and denim shorts.

Police responded to the 7-Eleven on the corner of North Kuakini Street and Nu'uanu Avenue at 2:27 p.m. today after a couple complained that their 2002 gold Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was stolen from the parking lot with their child still inside.
