Argument ends in gunfire

A 48-year-old Makaha man was arrested last night after he allegedly fired a rifle three times to scare a 25-year-old man who was arguing with the older man's sons.The man who filed the complaint told police he was walking past a home on Kepue Street near Kepue Place about 11:25 p.m. when he got into an argument with the other man's sons. He said the father went into the home, returned with a rifle and threatened to shoot him.
He said the father then fired three shots into the air.
The father was arrested on first-degree terroristic threatening and reckless endangering complaints. A rifle and three spent shell casings were recovered, police said.
Women chase purse snatchers
A 22-year-old Pearl City man and a 17-year-old Waipahu boy were arrested in Waikiki last night after two women visitors from Japan reported their purses stolen.
The two women, ages 25 and 26, told police they were walking on a Waikiki sidewalk when the two men came from behind and grabbed their purses.
Police said the women called out for help and gave chase. Several people who saw what was happening also joined the chase.
Officers caught up with them a short time later.
The man and the teen were arrested on suspicion of second-degree theft.
Domestic complaints lodged
A Lualualei woman was arrested last night after she allegedly slapped and punched her estranged husband before beating him and their daughter with a stick.
Police said the women, 50, was angry with the husband and daughter and began to hit the man.
The husband, 51, left the area and the woman began to beat on a parked car with a stick, police said. The daughter, 19, tried to calm the woman, but the mother picked up a larger stick and began hitting her, police said.
About the same time, the husband returned and took the stick away from the woman as police were arriving.
The wife was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault and abuse of a family member.
Police officer injured
A Honolulu police officer was slightly injured yesterday while trying to break up a fight between two homeless men, ages 40 and 42. The 40-year-old man said the older man threatened him with a knife.
The police officer said that while he was attempting to make an arrest about 7:25 a.m., the older man kicked him in the lower leg, injuring him slightly.
The man was booked on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening, second-degree assault of a police officer and resisting arrest.
