Keiki-style art appreciation

Advertiser Staff

Kids can get stuck in the summer humdrums. And parents get tired hearing their children whine about it: "Mom! I'm bored!"

The Honolulu Academy of Arts may have a remedy: Keiki Kits and Gallery Hunts, free and ongoing activities geared toward children ages 3 to 12.

Keiki Kits are a cultural adventure in a bag, with stories that complement art in specific galleries, games, puzzles and a take-home art activity.

Gallery Hunts involve a scavenger hunt-type exploration throughout the academy — answer questions to win a prize.

Academy hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $7 general; $4 for seniors, students and military personnel; and free for children 12 and younger. Details: 532-8700.
