ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
2nd '30 Days' tonight

Advertiser Staff

ON TV

If you missed last week's "30 Days" on FX, make room in your schedule to catch tonight's second documentary at 7.

This is original TV to say the least. The documentaries follow Morgan Spurlock of "Super Size Me" fame as he takes month-long looks at various aspects of life. Last week, he and his fiancee spent a month trying to live on minimum wage. Tonight, the series follows a 35-year-old former high school athlete as he tries a get-fit-quick scheme.

THE BUZZ

Make mosquitoes bite the dust instead of you

Mosquitoes can be more than just pesky. They can transmit the West Nile virus. And now — when average daily temperatures exceed 80 degrees — mosquitoes are their most active. Some ways to help reduce the mosquito population in your backyard:

• Get rid of standing water, including pet dishes, pool covers, flowerpots and tire swings.

• Keep swimming pools chlorinated.

• Clean debris from rain gutters, tree holes, tarps and plastic sheeting.

• Repair leaky outside faucets, pipes and air-conditioners.

• Drain and refill pet bowls, wading pools and birdbaths every two to three days.

FINAL WORD

"I don't enjoy going out anymore. It's such a pain. It's everyone saying, 'Let's do a deal! Can I have a picture?' I'm just, like, 'These people are such losers. I can't believe I used to love doing this.' "
