ISLAND LI FE SHORTS
Fun skits, but for adults, please

Advertiser Staff

HAPPENING

Simply maddening? Hardly.

Deadly Duo Productions is putting on a few funny skits with "The Madhouse Reloaded" at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. today through Saturday at Leeward Lab Theatre.

The humor has explicit content, and the production is intended for mature audiences. That said, if you like productions with an edge, these student-directed scenes and improvised sketches are for you.

For more information, call 221-6691 or 384-4411. Cost is $3 for the early show and $5 for the evening performance. Tickets are available at the door.

EATING HEALTHFULLY

Lots of women need to consume more iron

Feeling tired all the time? Hands unusually cold? Nails brittle?

You might not have enough iron in your body.

One in five women — and nearly half of all pregnant women — is deficient in iron, according to the National Institutes of Health. The causes of deficiency are not enough iron in your diet, poor absorption of iron by your body and loss of blood (including from heavy menstrual bleeding).

If the reason is dietary, fit more iron-rich foods — raisins, spinach, red meats, fish, poultry, eggs, legumes and whole-grain bread — into your meals. A multivitamin can help though iron absorption may be reduced. And only take high-dose iron supplements under a doctor's supervision; excessive iron can be dangerous.

If you're still concerned, see your doctor.

FINAL WORD

"Shortly after my divorce, I got really happy."

— Jerry Hall | model-actress and ex-wife of Mick Jagger, asked when she had been happiest.
