Substance abuse resources

Advertiser Staff

The state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations in April launched an online employee substance abuse awareness and prevention program for workers and employees through its Web site, www.hawaii.gov/labor/.

The program cost $15,000 and was developed in cooperation with the office of Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona, HMSA and Wai'anae High School's Searider Productions.

"We wanted to provide an educational tool to reduce the amount of substance abuse on the job," said labor department spokesman James Hardway. "Substance abuse affects your fellow employers and the company bottom line. But more importantly, it affects your family members who depend on you."
