So how does Honolulu taste? It's 'ono!

Jim Evers of Makiki knew how to get in some quality time yesterday with his 19-year-old daughter, Nadea, while she's home from college.

Louise Akina of 'Aiea and her 17-year-old son, Chris, said they have attended Taste of Honolulu for the past three years. Both of them were enjoying combo plates from E&O Trading Co. The annual fundraiser for Easter Seals continues today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

He took her to Taste of Honolulu, the 14th annual gastronomic extravaganza at the Civic Center grounds where the Everses managed to find a small table near the entrance.

"Good," Nadea said, between bites of tenderloin of beef on a hot rock with a merlot-miso glaze from the Top of Waikiki concession. "Really tender."

"We came early afternoon, then we went to a play and now we're back," her father said. "The food is really good, plus you've got the bands. So you can take a break, listen to some music and come back for more refreshments."

Military veteran Limarie Crespo and her Marine husband, Jose, brought their 5-year-old daughter, Grace, who particularly enjoyed the clams with black bean sauce from Mandalay.

The event continues today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $3 general; free for seniors 65 and older and for children 12 and younger; and free for military members and their families before 3 p.m.

Taste of Honolulu is a benefit for Easter Seals Hawai'i. More information is available at www.taste808.com.
