Memorial for educator Shannon Ajifu on Friday

A memorial service for educator Shannon Ajifu will be held at 10:45 a.m. Friday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Kailua. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Her family requests that flowers be omitted.

Ajifu, 68, died Thursday. She was a teacher, counselor and principal with the Department of Education for 36 years. She was also a member of the Board of Education.

She is survived by husband, Shoyei; son, Lee; daughter, Beth Yos; sister, Gail Wong; and four grandchildren.

A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Arrangements were by Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary.
