AT YOUR SERVICE

Meet Keyotae. This search-and-rescue volunteer has helped find several missing people, including a lost Alzheimer's patient. By the way, Keyotae has a furry face and a nose that won't quit. The 120-pound bloodhound is one of five nominees for the third annual Pedigree Paws to Recognize program, a national tribute that honors professionally trained service dogs. Other nominees include Jenner, a guide dog, and Boris, a military dog trained to protect and serve.

The Everyday Heroes category also allows dog lovers to submit an essay to nominate their own service dog — one that's not professionally trained — for a $5,000 cash prize and a one-year supply of dog food. The contest ends July 31. Go to pedigree.com/paws to cast your vote or for more details.

BOX OFFICE

Holy two-weeks-in-a-row, Batman!

"Batman Begins" held the top spot at the box office its second week out, but it wasn't enough to halt a record 18-week slump at the box office.

"Batman" took in $26.8 million for first place, according to estimates from Nielsen EDI tracking firm. "Bewitched," starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell, was No. 2 with $20.2 million. "Herbie: Fully Loaded" with Lindsay Lohan took fourth place with $12.8 million. And "Land of the Dead," the R-rated return of director George Romero to the zombie genre, opened in fifth with $10.2 million.

As to the streak, it will take an earth-shattering showing by Tom Cruise's "War of the Worlds" to top the same weekend last year, when "Spider-Man 2" opened with $115.8 million for the four-day July 4 weekend.

FINAL WORD

"They had some outbursts in front of me sometimes. The first time I just listened. The second time I told them to get over it."
