BUSINESS BRIEFS
Economic Momentum group off to slow start

Advertiser Staff

A commission aimed at keeping Hawai'i's economy going strong is getting off to a slow start.

Earlier this month Gov. Linda Lingle announced the creation of a 31-member Economic Momentum Commission, which is charged with finding ways to stave off Hawai'i's next economic downturn. The group, which includes leaders from a broad section of Hawai'i, was expected to hold its first meeting this month, however, that date now has been pushed to July 8.

Lingle spokesman Russell Pang said the delay was caused by scheduling conflicts and shouldn't delay a release of a final report in October.
