HECO offers way to cut bills
Advertiser Staff
Hawaiian Electric Co.'s residential customers can sign up for a peak-load management program that can cut their monthly bill by $3.
Under a $3.9 million, two-year contract, Honeywell will install remote-controlled switches on electric water heaters in more than 12,500 homes.
The switches will allow HECO to temporarily turn off the heaters during power-generation emergencies.
Residential customers whose electric water heaters hold at least 40 gallons can sign up by calling 947-6937.
