UH's Sadler passed over for Montana AD job

Advertiser Staff

Jim O'Day, the director of development for the University of Montana athletic department, was named its new athletic director today.

O'Day will replace Don Reed, who retires tomorrow.

Tom Sadler, University of Hawai'i's associate athletic director, was the third of five finalists to interview for the job in Missoula this month.

All five finalists made two-day visits to the school, interviewing with a 15-member search committee and appearing in public forums.

Sadler, 44, was athletic director Herman Frazier's first major hire at UH in 2003. They worked together for nearly 20 years at Arizona State.

At UH, Sadler oversees internal operations, including ticketing and facilities management.
