Tonight's Must-See

Tonight on KHNL News 8

Feel like seeing a movie this weekend but don't know which flick to pick? Tune in tonight to KHNL News 8 first at 5 as we preview this week's new movie releases. We'll have that story plus your latest news, sports and weather tonight on KHNL News 8.

"Will & Grace," 7 p.m., NBC. If you missed the season finale, here is a second chance. It's a funny one, stuffed with guest stars. After quitting his lawyer job, Will is a full-time writer. Then he meets a strange stranger (Alec Baldwin) who gives him work ... at an office that doesn't seem to do anything. Grace meets an ex-love (Eric Stoltz). He and his wife want her to decorate their trendy hotel. Meanwhile, Jack is having a hectic time launching a talk show on the gay cable network. His first effort, with a nasty former child star (Seth Green), sputters; his second leaves Karen needing to make a public apology. There are some odd moments here, in a series that sometimes tries too hard but gets big laughs.

Of Note

"The Cut," 7 p.m., CBS. This show continues to come up with clever challenges. Now, the two teams must each design and make three dresses in 30 hours — and recruit New York City strangers to model them.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. A hunter was apparently killed by a bear, which was then killed by someone else. Officials are perplexed.

"Hit Me Baby One More Time," 8 p.m., NBC. In MTV's early days, the Missing Persons had the right look. Terry Bozzio had been a drummer for Frank Zappa; Dale Bozzio, his wife, had been a Playboy bunny. She became the group's singer complete with pink hair, plastic clothes and electronic backing. Alas, their singles peaked at No. 42 on the Billboard chart ("Words" and "Destination Unknown," both in 1982); the Bozzios were missing persons, until a late-'90s comeback. They show up tonight, with Shannon ("Let the Music Play"), The Fixx ("One Thing Leads to Another") and more.

"Mission Impossible" (1996), 9 p.m., USA Networks. There are many great moments in this spy adventure, sparked by Brian De Palma's direction, Tom Cruise's work in the lead role, and some talented pros (including Vanessa Redgrave and Jon Voight) in support. Alas, there are also a few parts, including the ending, that are merely absurd.
