Sadler waiting on Montana

University of Hawai'i associate athletic director Tom Sadler could find out as soon as today whether he will be named athletic director at the University of Montana.

TOM SADLER

Sadler, Herman Frazier's right-hand man at UH, was the third of five finalists to interview for the job in Missoula this month.

A school spokesman said the field is "down to three," but declined to name them and said a decision could be announced today or as late as Tuesday. "It is up to the president (George Dennison) at this point," Kerry Shimek said.

Sadler, through UH spokeswoman Lois Manin, said he has not heard of a decision from Montana.

Two UM staff members who listened to Sadler's presentation and question-and-answer session with faculty, staff, students and fans said he came across well.

All five finalists made two-day visits to the school, interviewing with a 15-member search committee and appearing in public forums. School officials said none of the finalists has dropped out.

Sadler, 44, was Frazier's first major hire at UH in 2003. They worked together for nearly 20 years at Arizona State.

At UH, Sadler oversees internal operations, including ticketing and facilities management.
