A Whitmore Village man and his two sons were killed about 9 p.m. yesterday in a fiery collision on Kunia Road involving a car and a flat bed truck.

The city Department of the Medical Examiner this morning identified those killed in the crash as Nestor Manzano Sr., 53; Nestor Manzano, 19; and Edison Manzano, 16.

Police said the Manzanos were traveling in a 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier headed toward Wahiawa when it hit a GMC flatbed agricultural truck at a truck crossing about two miles north of the Royal Kunia subdivision near the Hawai'i Country Club.

The car burst into flames, and the three occupants had to be removed by firefighters.

The three were taken to Saint Francis West Medical Center, where the father and the younger son died at about 10:05 p.m.

The third victim, the younger Nestor Manzano, was taken to The Queen's Medical Center and died there at about 12:30 a.m. this morning.

The truck driver, a 39-year-old 'Ewa Beach man was not injured. Police traffic investigators said the truck was not speeding and its driver had not been drinking. They believe the car driver was speeding, but had not determined if he were driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The accident happened under clear skies in an unlighted area, police said.

The three deaths bring to 14 the number of people killed in traffic accidents on O'ahu so far this year compared to 16 by this time last year.
