Hole No. 14, 150 yards, 5-iron

I decided to use a knockdown 5-iron instead of my usual 7- or 8-iron, intending to land the ball short and run it up to the green about 150 yards away.

I hit the ball on the screws on a clothesline straight for the flag.

The ball landed on the green, took two bounces, and rolled a few feet and disappeared into the cup.

This time I saw it; I didn't see my first hole-in-one at Kahuku in 1997, on the 119-yard sixth hole with a 9-iron.

Do you have a story to tell about your hole-in-one? Tell us about it. Stories must be typed and brief, around 50 to 100 words. The stories must include the date, course, hole, yardage and club. Return phone numbers must be listed. Holes-in-one must have been reported to The Advertiser by the golf courses. Fax submissions to 525-5491 or e-mail to: sports@HonoluluAdvertiser.com
