Rod McPhee service scheduled for March 11

A service celebrating the life of Roderick F. McPhee, who served as president of Punahou School for 26 years until his retirement in 1994, has been set for 4 p.m. March 11 at Central Union Church in Honolulu.

Aloha attire. The family asks for no flowers or wreaths, and suggests that donations be made in his memory to the Rod and Sharon McPhee Scholarship Fund at Punahou School, which is awarded to students in need. The address is 1601 Punahou St., Honolulu, HI 96822.

McPhee was born Jan. 30, 1929, in Eau Claire, Wis. He came to Punahou from his position as superintendent of the Glencoe, Ill., school system.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, and son, Dennis McPhee, a disc jockey, and Dennis' wife, Lynda, of Honolulu; a cousin, Mrs. Joseph Todd of New York; his sister's children, Cherie Berndt and Susan Berndt Williams, both of Phoenix; and his brother's children, Fran McPhee Redic of North Carolina and Meg McPhee of California. He was preceded in death by sister Jeanne McPhee Berndt and brother Michael P. McPhee.

McPhee's ashes will be scattered at sea at a later, private service.
