The boy was charged with first-degree assault and was being held at the Alder Street detention center last night. Two other males, ages 16 and 24, also were arrested and faced third-degree assault charges.
Police said the 18-year-old man and two other males were in the parking lot of Macy's in Kailua on Feb. 25 when they were confronted by the three other males. The 16-year-old then began to punch and kick the 18-year-old, causing serious face and head injuries, police said.
The primary suspect was identified and arrested yesterday.
The body of a 51-year-old man was found near a wastewater pumping station on Kailua Road yesterday afternoon.
Police said the man, believed to be homeless, was found near a stream at about 1 p.m. Police have classified the case as an unattended death pending the outcome of an autopsy.
A 24-year-old man was charged with one count of second-degree robbery in connection with the Feb. 20 holdup of a Papa John's pizza restaurant.
Kevin Gengler was being held yesterday in lieu of $11,000 bail.
