Bloody hand leads to burglary arrest

A 22-year-old man was arrested yesterday as a suspect in the early morning burglary of a Hawai'i Kai home.

The home's owner, a 63-year-old man, told police he heard noises coming from his garage about 2:15 a.m. and heard a car speeding away moments later.

Police were called and as they were proceeding to the home, one of the officers stopped a man for suspicion of drunk driving and noticed the man's hand was bleeding.

Other officers, who were investigating the burglary, found drops of blood at the home, which is located about a mile and a half away from where the drunk driving arrest was made.

Police made the connection and arrested the drunk driving suspect for suspicion of first-degree burglary as well.



Teen arrested in bogus check incident

A 14-year-old boy was arrested yesterday after he allegedly tried to cash a stolen check at a Kaimuki bank.

Police said the boy walked into the bank about 11:30 a.m. and handed a check to the teller along with his school identification card. The teller gave the check back to the boy and watched as he endorsed it.

The boy became nervous when the teller began asking him questions about the check and walked out of the bank, leaving his ID card behind.

The boy was found later at his home and arrested for suspicion of second-degree forgery, fourth-degree theft and attempted third-degree theft.



Woman reports protective order violation

A 34-year-old Kahalu'u man was arrested yesterday on a variety of charges stemming from allegations made by his former girlfriend who told police the man held her against her will and terrorized her for several hours March 1.

The ex-girlfriend, 30, told investigators the man was driving her home when the two began to argue. She said the former boyfriend drove her to several different locations, threatened to harm her, hit her and took her property.

She said she was finally able to get away from the man on her own and call police who arrested the man yesterday for suspicion of kidnapping, violating a protective order, second-degree terroristic threatening, second-degree theft and abuse of a household member.



Youth arrested in ball-throwing complaint

An 11-year-old student at He'eia Elementary School was arrested yesterday in connection with Feb. 25 incident involving a teacher at the school.

The teacher said the boy intentionally threw a ball at her legs causing her to fall and injure herself.

The student was identified at school yesterday, police were called and the boy was arrested for suspicion of second-degree assault.

The boy was released after being given a date to appear in Family Court.



Empty pockets reported as robbery

A 38-year-old man was arrested yesterday in connection with the Feb. 13 robbery of a 63-year-old man in Waialua on Feb. 13.

The older man told police the younger man assaulted him and knocked him out and that cash was missing from his pockets when he came to.

A suspect was arrested yesterday for suspicion of second-degree robbery and was later released pending further investigation.
