A 36-year-old 'Aiea man was arrested in Kalihi yesterday on multiple felony charges after a police officer stopped to help what he believed to be a stranded motorist.

The officer approached the man whose car appeared to be stalled on the side of the road at about 5:45 p.m. but the man bolted.

The officer then ran a check on the car tag and found it had been reported stolen earlier. Additional police officers were sent to the area and found the man hiding in a nearby stream. He was arrested for suspicion of car theft and breaking into the car.

Police reported finding drugs and drug paraphernalia on the man while he was being booked, leading to additional arrests for suspicion of drug offenses.
