Hawai'i's agricultural workforce rose 4 percent to 7,300 workers in January compared with a year earlier, a Hawai'i Agriculture Statistics Service quarterly survey reported yesterday.
The diversified agriculture sector, which excludes pineapple and sugarcane, accounted for 5,600 workers, or 77 percent of agriculture jobs. The average wage of all hired workers was up 3.5 percent to $11.52 an hour, or 41 cents per hour more than in January of 2004.
