Advertiser Staff

Police arrested a 45-year-old man at a Kalihi boarding house last night after he allegedly robbed a fellow boarding house resident of an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man who filed the robbery complaint told police the other man approached him, pulled out a knife and demanded that he turn over his cash. He said he complied with the demand and called 911 after the man who robbed him returned to his own room.

Police arrested the suspect for suspicion of second-degree robbery.

Baseball bat attack leads to arrest

A 35-year-old Honolulu man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly hit a 45-year-old man in the forearm with a wooden baseball bat.

Police said the older man told them he was standing next to his car about 2 p.m. when the younger man approached him, began to poke him in the chest several times and got into a heated argument with him.

The older man said he took up a fighting stance at which point the younger man went to his truck, came back with a wooden bat and stuck him in the left forearm as he tried to block a blow.

Police and a city ambulance arrived at the scene and the suspected assailant was arrested for suspicion of second-degree assault. He was later released without charges pending further investigation.

The man who was hit had several bruises on his arm but refused treatment at the scene, police said.
